Nantong University is located in Nantong City, Jiangsu Province, a coastal open city with the reputation of "Pearl of the River and Sea" and "the first city in modern China". It is a comprehensive University jointly built by the People's Government of Jiangsu Province and the Ministry of Transport and Transport of Jiangsu Province. The school was founded in 1912 by Zhang Jian, a famous modern industrialist and educator, as a private Nantong Medical School and Nantong Textile School. In 2004, the former Nantong Medical College, Nantong Polytechnic College and Nantong Normal College merged to form a new Nantong University. The school has four main campuses, Qixiu Campus, Zhongxiu Campus and Qidong Campus, covering an area of more than 3700 mu, with a construction area of nearly 1 million square meters, a total value of teaching and scientific research instruments and equipment of about 810 million yuan, and more than 270 million books on paper.
