Many Colleges and Universities in Nanjing Aiming at “One Belt One Road”
As the new semester begins, the Overseas Teaching Hospital of Nanjing Medical University makes an appearance in Indonesia, making it the first teaching hospital established by a Chinese university in one of the countries along “One Belt One Road”. Many universities in Nanjing actively respond to the national One Belt And One Road strategy. They go abroad, export high-quality education resources and in the meantime locally promote the development of domestic enterprises.
Short-term Training, ‘2+2’ Collaborative Training Program,Diverse forms of cooperation

and six other teachers are teaching in Thailand and Cambodia when reporter contacts them. It is a school's short-term training program set in one of the countries along “One Belt One Road”. Caoxue the director of International Exchange Office said: “The six teachers are going to teach local students in English on optical fiber communication, mobile communication, 4G and the most cutting-edge technology in this field.”
Due to the shortage of language talents in the countries alongside One Belt One Road, NanJing XiaoZhuang University established Department of Chinese in University of Indoosha in Indonesia which adopted a “2+2” teaching pattern. Students study at the university of Indoosha and NanJing XiaoZhuang University for respectively two years and will receive a bachelor's degree from Xiao Zhuang college after graduation. It's said that companies like Huawei recruit locals who can speak Chinese in Indonesia every year. That explains why the college appeals to them so much.
Nanjing University Of Chinese Medicine provides degree education in several countries alongside One Belt One Road. “On the 20th of this month, we will go to Philippines and cooperate with an alumni on academic education program which includes junior college degree, bachelor degree, master degree and doctoral degree.” Said Zheng Xiaohong, the director of International Office in this university. They have cooperated with Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia before.
Most Universities Collaborate with Domestic Enterprises; Employment Issue is Relieved
Lin Yue, head of Jiangsu Education Department International Exchange Office said tons of challenges in projects, funding etc. lay in front of Chinese universities when they try to establish schools abroad. As a result, to see from a national scale, few universities can really “go out there”. Universities in Nanjing has seized the opportunity to cooperate with enterprises and so the problem is averted, facilitating the local development of enterprises.
Wu Yuanhui, from Nanjing Institute of Industrial Technology, is among the first to go to Zambia to set up a China-Zambia Vocational Technology College. “Two years ago, the Ministry of Education launched a pilot program in the non-ferrous metal industry, and our school undertook the construction task of the institute of mechanical and electrical engineering. ”said Wu. Zambia is basically an agricultural country with almost no industry there, and Chinese companies are everywhere. “At the gate of many companies, it is commonly seen that many people are applying for jobs. But they have very low level of skills and are severely lack of professional knowledge about welding instrument. They usually operate the machines based on instincts because they can't read the Chinese on the equipments, which always leads to equipment damage.
They cooperate with China Nonferrous Mining Group and opened many skill- training courses. From last year October to the beginning of this year, the company has trained nearly a hundred students. China Nonferrous Mining Group is very satisfied with the training program. Zhang Xingwang, director of the training program at the company's subcompany Qianbi Xitong Smelting Corporation said in the past they had to ask professionals to repair the equipment and it cost over 10k. Now with the training program, they can fix the problems by themselves.
Nanjing Institute of Information Technology's ‘going out’ project was in cooperation with China Mail Construction Technology co. LTD. “The company's communications services cover many countries abroad, and overseas platform is quite mature.” Cao Xue introduces, the current trainees mostly are local employees that the company recruited from local.
With Many Schools Heading in This Way, the Scale of the Program is Expanding
Ding Longgang, the chief of Technology Department of Nanjing Institute of Industrial Technology, introduced that the school is working with ZTE to create a “Overseas Collaborative Training Program”. He reveals that they are currently negotiating on the ZTE Indonesia Training Base. By grafting courses and enterprises, the technicians who will use ZTE equipments in southeastern Asian countries can receive training provided by the team of mixed teachers of South China's ZTE in Indonesia and be conferred the certificate of ZTE engineer and the degree of Nanjing Institute of Industrial Technology.
Wu Xuemin, party secretary of Nanjing Institute of Industrial Technology said in terms of Internet of things and Internet communication, Chinese companies gradually obtain discourse power. Along with the advancement of One Belt One Road Initiative, colleges and universities have the responsibility to promote the “China Standard”to the world and contribute to the international layout of industries of China.
